Set 2: Wei Tuo Offers the Pestle Two

Continue from the previous posture described in “Learning Yin Jin Jing for Better Mind and Body Health-Part 1

(1) Elevate both elbows while extending your palms flat, ensuring that the fingertips of each hand are directed towards one another and the palms are facing downward. The elbows, palms, and arms should be roughly aligned with the shoulders (refer to Figure 1).

(2) Stretch both arms forward, with the palms facing down and the fingertips forward (shown in Figure 2).

(3) Bring the arms to the left and right side respectively at the shoulder level, with the palms facing down and the fingertips pointing outwards (shown in Figure 3).

(4) Bent your wrists so that your fingertips are directed upward while maintaining a forward and downward gaze with your eyes fully open, as illustrated in Figure 4.

Key points to remember:

  • Extend both palms outward, applying force from the base of the palms, with fingers directed upward and toes firmly gripping the ground.
  • Inhale and exhale naturally, let go of any distracting thoughts, and embrace a state of calm and tranquility.
  • The arms are positioned straight and aligned with the shoulder height.

Health Benefits:

  • This technique can help balance the meridians in the upper limbs, thereby enhancing the flow of Qi and blood to the heart and lungs, which in turn can lead to improved respiratory function.
  •  It can also strengthen the muscles in the shoulders and arms, contributing to better mobility in the shoulder joints.
