The spleen has a very powerful function. It stores blood, filters blood by removing and getting rid of old or damaged blood cells, makes white blood cells and antibodies that help you fight infection, maintains the levels of fluid in your body, and produces antibodies that protect you against infection.

How to keep your spleen working properly? Besides drinking plenty of water, eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, practicing Taiji and Qigong regularly, basic Traditional Chinese Medicine, and massaging acupoints on the spleen meridian can keep your spleen, lymphatic system, and immune system working properly and therefore help your immune system protect you from infections and illness.

The following are a few acupoints you may want to learn to massage daily.

ShangQiu Acupoint

Shangqiu acupoint is the human body’s anti-inflammatory drug. It is located a little below the front edge of the medial malleolus as is shown in the Figure. This acupoint exactly corresponds to the lower body lymphatic reflex zone in the plantar reflex zone, so it can treat various inflammations.

Why can rubbing this acupoint can eliminate inflammation? Because inflammation is generally caused by bacterial infection, and the spleen is responsible for blood transportation. The acupoints on the spleen meridian help blood circulation and can lead fresh blood to the lesion. Therefore, Shangqiu acupoint can eliminate various inflammations in the lower body, such as cystitis, urethritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

DiJi AccuPoint

Rubbing Diji acupoint can treat chronic pancreatitis and diabetes. Go up against the tibia, and the place directly opposite the highest point calf is the Diji acupoint as shown in the Figure. The spleen and stomach provide the acquired foundation of the human body. Rubbing the Diji acupoint can enhance the transportation and transformation function of the entire gastrointestinal tract, and has preventive and therapeutic effects on chronic pancreatitis and diabetes.

YinLingQuan Acupoint

Rubbing Yinlingquan point regularly can remove dampness and treat various inflammations and edema. Going up along the tibia to the knee socket is where the Yinlingquan acupoint is located as shown in the Figure. This accupoint is important for removing dampness, and high moisture in the human body, which can easily breed bacteria, causing edema and various inflammations, including dermatitis, rash, etc. Rubbing this acupoint regularly can strengthen the spleen, keep it healthy, and work properly.
